Greed Corp. Jesus Christ, I hate it.

You know, a bad game is one thing. That's just a bad game, where little effort went into either in the technical stuff, or the developers designed it so that the player couldn't possibly enjoy it. You know, like most developers do these days.

But you know what's even worse? A game that has so much going for it, and yet fails at the very foundation of what makes a game: the flow. Let me explain the flow of a game. It's basically the rythym of the game. I'm not talking about the speed here. Imagine you had a graph, and imagine the amount of events (challenges, new stuff, new weapons, new locations, bosses, important dialogues, ...) of any game you like on there. The flow of the game is on that graph. The flow needs to be constant and balanced. You can't just have a difficulty spike, that would be bullsh*t, because the player simply doesn't expect that, so you have to make the player used to that, you see what I mean?

I am getting a bit off track. I short, when I'm talking about Greed Corp., I'm talking about a game that looks great, sounds great, has some lovely music and a fresh new take on the strategy genre. And it is those that fall harder than games that are just dead on arrival. Greed Corp. is one of those games you simply have to play in order to realize the sh*ttyness of it all.

For one, the difficulty is all over the place. To explain, the game's campaign is divided in 4 races, kind of like StarCraft, but without any of the charm or drama. Each race is said to have a specific difficulty level. For instance, when playing the second race, your enemy may be targeted at: 'Skilled', while on the last race the enemy will usually be targeted at: 'Expert', which is the hardest difficulty level.

I swear to you that I nerdraged at my screen on the second race and waltzed through everything when I beat the game on the fourth race. It was literally BORING, that's how easy it was. I couldn't quite believe it, that's why I played it again. And guess what? It's the same thing!

Jesus Christ.

You can not believe how rage-inducing Greed Corp. is. Again, it looks really great and I love the music. I must say again: having no story is better than a halfassed story, W!Games. Try harder next time.

But I digress. While Super Meat Boy was rage-inducing, it was always fair and any mistake was in fact your fault. Also, the levels only took half a minute to complete. The levels here can take upwards to 10 minutes and the enemy WILL destroy you if you make one f*cking mistake.

Only for masochists.
