Not appealing for new fans of the movie, not appealing for kids and definitely not appealing to fans of the movies.

User Rating: 1.5 | Grease: The Official Video Game WII
I don't where to start, my girlfriend nd I initially were excited by the idea of a Grease game, the dance genre has been growingup with games like Just Dance, and we couldn't resist to the idea to sing and dance the film's songs...until we played this.

The game begins letting you choose story mode, songs or party mode, I'll review only the story mode as it is the only thing worth playing (if any) on this game.

You select a character from the film, all of them on a cartoonish style, which wasn't a bad idea to appeal for younger audiences, once you select the character, you select how do yo want to lay the game, wiimote and wii balance board or wiimote only. So far so good...

Then the game starts.

You begin "dancing" Summer Nights, by the way, all the songs have restricted language, so most of the are mute on several parts as the "curse word" is song, yes even Summe Nights has some banned words. The gameplay is you wave the wiimote up, down, left or right depending on the instructions on screen, then repeat, sometimes you'll have to perform an action to increase your score.

The song is not the original from the movie, but doesn't sound too bad, the graphics are real awful, even for a wii game, the characters repeat movements and don't do the movie's choreography, they don't even lip sync the models, so all you are going to see is the cartoons dancing the same steps over and over with a long ridiculous smile on their faces until the song is done, yes it has some minor details referring to the movie, but it's not worth it.

That's practically most of the game, it all plays the same except for 3 songs I know so far, Grease Lighting has you repairing the car with a time limit, hammering the car, painting it, that minigame actually wasn't so bad bu the controls do feel broken.

Other is where you trin Danny to several sports, those include wrestling, basketball and baseball, they aren't good either, but are fresh air fter all the wiimote wagging of the other stages. After that one there's an obstacle race. It's also forgettable.

The last song that is not danceable is Greased Lightning again, this time you use the wiimote as a steering wheel.

Now, if you think that by using the balance board, it all changes, it doesn;t I actually think it's even worst, when in this mode, you must balance your weight up, down, left or right depending on the instructions onscreen...why didn't they make it really danceable and take advantage of the combination of wiimote and balance board is beyond me.

The game has some secret characters and songs that re unlockable depending on your score. But who'd really want to play this again having other games of the genre that are actually good?

There's a guy on the forum saying that this game will win prizes, and I agree, between them it will win: worst use of an established license and most boring game.

CONCLUSION:

If you like Grease, you'll definitely won't like the game because of the laziness of the character's models and backgrounds, the censorship on the songs and the repetitive dancing.

If you are new to the Grease license: You won't like it because of the laziness put in this game in general.
