GRAND PRIX LEGENDS - Superb race simulator !

User Rating: 10 | Grand Prix Legends PC
I've played GPL since 1998.Here we are 2010,over a decade after the game was released, and still they race it.I know of no game,on any system, that's held this kind of fanbase for so long. The graphics were plain, even for 1998.NO ONE complained though.Pilots were to excited about the physics engine to notice. The models looked good, but lacked quality textures untill...
....loyal GPL pilots brought this game up to speed.More accurately painted cars, redone scenery, added tracks, and more have made GPL modern.
Use one of the many 3rd party utilities to custom paint your car, analyze yourd, anyones laps....and no,cheating is not an issue.
Extreme realism makes the game frustrating at first...DON'T give up,the rewards are worth it.
High horsepower grand prix cars are difficult to drive without downforce on bias ply tires. That was the sixties, that IS 'Grand Prix Legends'.

Dedicated racers still play.Real life F3 & Kart racers use it to keep reflexes sharp.
Don't expect to get this game and win without serious practice.Completing ONE lap at race speed is difficult.Once you get the feel, and learn the tracks,it's sheer bliss.Finishing a race is satisfying at this level, winning will have ya jumping around.

Bias ply tires don't hookup well so throttle control is crucial ! Try to mash the pedal from a stop and you'll end up in the ditch. The dash and wheel actually move forward on your screen, giving you the feeling of being pushed back in your seat from accelleration !

Get some beginner setups,or dial in your own before entering a race. You'll need VROC to find avaliable servers.Download, install it,and go racing. Good luck.
