One of the Most Fantastic Driving Models on the PS2

User Rating: 9.5 | Gran Turismo 4 PS2
This is my all-time favorite PS2 game ever, all because of the 700+ cars to collect, tons of races and content that will keep you glued to your TV for hours on end, a photo mode, and just the presentation overall is what many consider this to be one of the finest driving simulators on the PS2. The tracks and cars look as stunning as ever, the customization and upgrades are limitless (Introducing Nitrous, Carbon Driveshaft, and more!), and it's so jammed-packed with racing, you'll be getting more than your money's worth.

There are some minor annoyances such as a lack of damage modelling, the physics aren't quite as on par with Gran Turismo 3, some tracks having unintentional open spaces to allow unnecesessary shortcuts to be taken (most notably at Fuji Speedway 90's where there is a chicane plus an open space in between to cut through) and win by cheating, no online, the AI drivers can act stupid at times, and the penalty system on the driving missions and rally races. The penalty system can range from a 5 second speed reduction or a time addition (only if you manually selct this for arcade mode.) and just the slightest tap of a wall or barrier or another AI driver will trigger these penalties. Even more annoying when a penalty is triggered regardless of who initiated contact and you'll be plodding along slowly as the AI driver(s) will scoot merilly on by. These issues are present, but do not hamper the game to where it is frustrating.

Minor annoyances aside, one can easilly fall in love with Gran Turismo 4 with vehicles spanning over a century of the history of the automobile, (yes the 1886 Damilar Motor Carriage/Patent Wagon are present!) tons of upgrades, many challeges and races that will keep you busy for a long time, and the replay value overall, is immense. No racing/driving PS2 gamer should be caught without this game!
