The GRANDFATHER OF ALL FIRST-PERSON SHOOTERS

User Rating: 9 | GoldenEye 007 (Player's Choice) N64

When people think of the first game that influenced them to play first person shooters...almost all of society who grew up in the 90's will say GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64. You know a game is excellent when you've got people in their 40's and 50's still getting a kick out of this 20 something year old game. The story mode was great as it's simple and straight to the point, you shoot collect a lot of ammo as your reward, and progress to the next area on your quest to fulfill your objectives. The golden gun was the best gun in the game in multiplayer mode, a one shot kill. It's the equalizer to the ray gun seen in the Call Of Duty Zombies franchise. The graphics is what you expect for a 90's game, experimented 3D. It was released in 1997, so this was one of the first early stages of the video game industry exploring 3D gaming, with the exception of Tomb Raider for PlayStation in 1996. Nevertheless the game is arguably the most influential First-Person Shooter in gaming history, especially the multiplayer. I would bet money, if you challenged your boss or some of your old colleagues to this game, an entire party would be started. The game is such a cultural phenomenon that without it, other First-Person Shooters like Halo or Call Of Duty would be non-existent. The game is based off of a James Bond film that was released in 1995, the level of success the game received--especially being based off a movie, was completely unprecedented. Millions of this game was sold. The soundtrack & ambience definitely bring that added enjoyment to the game. The controls are also well done and your health system is fair considering you have health and armor. I'm almost certain everyone who has played this game back in 1997 has loved and enjoyed this game, especially the multiplayer. GoldenEye 007 is still hailed as one of the greatest first-person shooting games of all time and also hailed as one of the most influential games of the 20th century, you will not regret buying this game or downloading it onto your phone as a Rom.
