An incredible re-make of the N64 version. If you still have your Wii, get this at Christmas.

User Rating: 9.5 | GoldenEye 007 WII
Goldeneye on the N64 was said to be one of the best FPS's ever and I was interested to get this version since I have never played the original. My first James Bond game was Quantum Of Solace and while it was good, it wasn't realistic enough and was more kid-friendly (well it is a shooter but you get the picture.) Goldeneye focuses on more action, better multiplayer and a gripping story and it does what it says on the tin. This version is a bit like Call Of Duty as you pick up weapons and shoot baddies in the face, pick up an AK-47 and blast your way through hoards of enemies while your ally Alec Trevelyan drives a truck, Sneak into a facility and escape the dam in a plane. It all feels like Call Of Duty and that's not a bad thing. Presentation is great as you and Alec sneak into the dam and subdue many guards with your bare hands and steal a truck. The graphics push the Wii to it's limits with some brilliant effects, explosions and gunfire and great level design. Character models, facial expressions and lip syncing are spot on and even the script is good and the voice acting was amazing. The controls are almost perfect, pointing at the screen to aim your gun is easier than Quantum Of Solace because it is way more accurate and simple, firing your gun is easy with just a tap or hold of the B button, sprinting is even easier by holding the A button and changing your weapon and bringing out your smartphone is all done by pressing the arrows on the D-pad. Of course you move with the analog stick, scope with the Z button, throw grenades with the plus button and you crouch with the C button. Pausing and showing the score board is all down to the 1 and 2 buttons. The gameplay can only be described as sublime as it plays even better than COD and QOS. Better weapons, smarter AI and more variety pushes it further. What everyone was waiting for was the multiplayer since that's what made Goldeneye 64 so famous and the multiplayer this time around was outstanding online and off. With more maps than Quantum Of Solace and some of the COD games, a vast amount of new modes and old, great online experience, being able to create your own loadout is enhanced and better than most shooters, you can make an oline group with your friends, a cool xp feature and just plain fun. The offline multiplayer is great fun but feels very slimmed down compared to the online multiplayer but at least you don't need a good connection to play. Classic characters such as Jaws and Oddjob make a comeback online and off and many more. Goldeneye 007 is the best FPS I have ever played, almost everything about the game is perfect but the bad things are that the difficulty isn't VERY hard but can get on your nerves, you aren't able to vault over most objects, being stealthy can be fun but can get boring and sometimes the online server decides to lag but overall this is a near perfect game and if you get it at Christmas then it shall be a Christmas to remember.
