These days, its easy to forget that video games weren't always massive, long game playing affairs that they can be in the 21st century. Back in the late 1980's, early 1990's, they had to try to do more with less! This video game is a relatively faithful port of an arcade game, with good 16 bit graphics, sound, and music. While the controls don't feel on par with polished hits like the "Sonic the Hedgehog" series, it does feel like an improvement over "Altered Beast". While you have the choice of three different characters to play as in this game, I preferred to play as Gillius Thunderblade, the Dwarf! Before you sink your teeth into the Arcade Mode of this game, it's definitely recommended that you hone your fighting and reflex skills in the beginner mode, to get a taste of what to expect in the main game. While there isn't a lot of variety in the types of enemies and bosses you can fight, barring palette swaps of the enemies, it was somewhat necessary due to the more limited memory space of a 16 bit game, so any tricks that could be used to reduce memory space was definitely welcomed back than. The cool thing about this game, is that you can play this game solo, or with a friend. Also, any chance you can use an enemies artificial stupidity against them, like throwing them into a bottomless pit, is definitely recommended. The best way to play this video game is through the Nintendo Switch Online Service, where you can use the very useful rewind feature to help you out. Even so, don't expect an easy win! It will be quite a challenge to beat the final boss, but very rewarding to do so! This is definitely one of the better video games from early on in the Sega Genesis library, and I highly recommend playing it at least once! Enough said, true believers!
