While this game has action, it does not quite hold up to the standards of all previous God of War games. It could be argued that since this is the prequel of prequels for the series the action would not be as impressive as "what is to come" with the previous games. Each game becomes more intense with each new entry... however since each new entry was a sequel to the game before it, it made sense that the next game would be more action packed and exciting than the one before it. Now we have God of War: Ascension... the prequel that begins Kratos' journey of revenge against Aries and eventually the rest of the gods and titans. I will say right now that the game was fun and exciting. It had many new revolutionary additions that always keeps the series fresh for God of War fans. Even the story was well written and really help set the stage for God of War: Chains of Olympus and the original God of War. However I feel the execution was not quite up to par with the rest. While the other games got me invested right away, this one had me feeling that there was something missing. I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't have the "magic" the others had. Will I play it again, yes. It would go well with playing a God of War Marathon and play all six games in succession. If there are going to be more God of War games in the series, I can only hope the Santa Monica team can bring back everything that is great about the series instead of something that isn't quite there. 8 out of 10 for this game.
