A rather short game that is good to the last drop (of blood).

when I saw screenshots and heard the rumors, I assumed this was just a hack and slash game. Boy was I VERY mistaken. God of war is a Hack and slash game that goes above and beyond, with a LOT of fun puzzles/challenges, some of which may have you pulling out your hair (no wonder why Kratos is bald!)

the story line is top notch as well. You follow Kratos as he aspires to destroy a god. On his journey, you learn his motives, and a good chunk of his past. It's a very well-writen story. Though, playing through a second time, and having to watch it all over agian without an option to skip, does get a bit repetitive. but in the long run, playing through a second time with one of the many unlockable costumes can be extremely entertaining. However, a third time was asking a bit much. There lies the (possibly only) problem with GOW. the length of game isn't nearly long enough to play through more than once or twice without going "Oh yeah.. this part", and making it feel like you were just playing that part a few hours ago (which is quite possible, it took me about 9 hours the first run through, and less than 6 my second run through)

But enough about its ONE flaw. The action NEVER stops. Constant carnage as Kratos swings his blades of chaos around wildly, bringing gore wherever they make contact. Honestly, never before has attacking thin air been so entertaining. I must say though, the puzzles are what really added that "X" factor for me. It gave my brain a nice little challenge, and the majority of them were overly complicated, but actually they were "just right". Not taking too long, but not so short its easy.

If you don't have the $20 to spend on this game, then at the very least, go rent it. If you haven't played GOW, you REALLY don't know what you're missing.
