The pics they show on websites make this game looks really simple with no really deep gameplay. Man are you wrong! This game is turn-based strategy at its best and offers great gladiator style gameplay. The simple combat system is surprisingly fun. When you unlock combos or spells, then the fun really begins. The graphics are really crisp but not top notch. The different armour designs for the hero actually look really cool and even cooler if you learn how to style him out with different colors. Its a shame though that your characters don't change cosmetically when you get new armour but this is a minor thing. As for the sound, it happens to be really good. The voice acting is well done and matches the great facial expressions. The music during gladiator battles fits really well and even gives you some thrills and momentum when fighting. As for the story, it can get pretty confusing at times but it all pretty much fits at the end. The game is pretty lengthy too! It offers about 40+ hours the first time through. During those 40+ hours you'll recruit all kinds of other gladiators for your school of talented warriors which is truly a sight to behold during those awesome tournaments! The only bad thing about this game is that battles can get pretty repetitive and has a pretty low replay value if any. After spending 45 hours in the story there's not much else to do except play again as the other hero which isn't as much fun the second time. What really had surprised me was that this was from LucasArts, which is famous for their Star Wars games. I never thought that they would pull off a gladiator RPG like that. This is one solid game for those RPG fans and has that gladiator twist. Give this game out. You'll thank me if you can get past the rather slow start. After that hour or two of simplistic stuff, the fun really begins.
