Flavorful, innovative turn-based strategy that's sure to hook someone unfamiliar of the genre.

User Rating: 8.4 | Gladius PS2
Most gamers would think twice on playing a turn-based strategy game, especially about gladiators. But once you get on playing this underrated gem, its diffucult to stop.

This game has nothing to do with the movie Gladiator, instead it delivers a more unusual mix of Roman warfare and ancient European and Egyptian mythology, a combination well worth a try. Graphically, it lacks. A few polishing and filters might have been gread, and the sound too. Although the voice acting was okay, the repetitive theme for each region gets pretty annoying after a few hundred times. What's great about this is the variety and customization, which most games of its genre lack. You can build up your own team whicever way you desire, and either triumph or suffer only putting the blame to yourself. The two different starting characters offers easy and medium difficulty, and playing both isn't really necessary as the story is pretty much similar. Mini quests are essential to upgrading your team with loots at equipment, making them fun and entrhralling. Over-all, it's a great buy. A memorable piece from LucasArts and should deliver enjoyment to most.
