Comments and overall opinion of the game and the gameplay:
Game play is very simple to master, and enjoyable to play.
Was the game what you thought it was going to be, how did it meet your expectations:
No, I thought it would be just your typical hack and slash gladiator game, how boring. However Gladius shocked me by having an excellent plot that co-insides with both hero’s that you are able to play.
What did this game remind you of (if anything): N/a
How would you rate the character and the story, and the immersive value of the game (did it draw you in, engage you, and allow you to escape into the world):
You play as the hero, Valens or Ursela, and you run a gladiator school.
If it is a license - how true to the license (in your opinion) is the game: N/a
What are the game's biggest strengths:
The Biggest Strenth is all of the different character styles. Also, the plot was well written and helped make the game great.
What are the game's biggest weaknesses:
The biggest weakness is that Gladius is to short. Also, what your playable characters did or didn’t do did not matter with the plot, if you didn’t do something the game didn’t care and would act as if you did.
Looking at the features listed on the back of the game box, do you think that those features were the games best features? If not what would you have written as the highlighted features:
The best feature wasn’t listed on the back of the box, it was the story line and how it would bring together both playable hero’s of the game.
What changes come to mind that you would want to make (if any):
The changes that I would make would be to help Gladius be longer than it was. Also, I would have the choices that you make actually matter in the game.
What elements of this game would you say are worth remembering and reusing again in another game/context:
The Class break ups are very handy in the fighting, it breaks up kind of like the old childhood game of rock, paper, scissors. (Light beats heavy, heavy beats medium, medium beats light.
How are the controls:
The controls were very basic, and took all of 10 seconds to lurn.
How are the graphics:
The graphics were very good during the length cinematics that popped up way to often. However, once you went into a battle the graphics although still nice were dissipated by the far away view that you were forced to use.
How was the game audio (score, sound effects, voice overs, etc.):
The voice overs matched the characters lips as they were moving.
How is the user-interface - menus, controls, etc.:
The user interface is easy, especially while shopping and doing level ups, you just select the warrior and his list would filter to the top and allow you to chose what you wanted.
Would you recommend the game to others:
yes
Who do you think the target audience was for the game (13 to 18 year old boys, first-person shooter fans, etc.):
I think the target audience was around 16 and up and targets your RPG fans and fans of Hack and Slash games.
