Ghostbusters is one of those few exceptions of a game that ranks up there with the movies it was based on.

Ghostbusters wasn't a game I had high expectations for. After all, most games based on movies and vice versa tend to not be as good as the source they're based on. This game did not disappoint, however. Not only is the gameplay refreshing and different from your usual shooter, but it has the same atmosphere and feel as the movies that it was based on.

GAMEPLAY - This game looks and plays like your usual 3rd-person shooter, but rather than running around with a huge shotgun, you have a series of guns that are solely used to capture ghosts. You have the capture stream that was used in the movies, along with a slime gun and two others. While the capture stream is the only one you really need to use 90% of the time, the others do present a little bit of variety to the gameplay. A lot of the gameplay consists of capturing ghosts, finding hidden artifacts, and solving puzzles. It's actually pretty fun, and it's a nice change to be trying to capture monsters rather than blast them to smithereens. - 8.5/10

STORY - While the story was done by the Ghostbusters themselves, I didn't think the story was quite as good as the movies. It was alright, but nothing to write home about. I would have liked to see some DLC where there would be levels based on scenes from the movies, but oh well. What there is here is decent, but at the same time I didn't care that much about the story after the first couple of levels. - 6.5/10

GRAPHICS - Since this is a game that was released on a variety of systems and is a few years old now, the graphics weren't as mind-blowing as what you see today. Still, the graphics were fine to me. I would say that the only part of the graphics that really made this game show its age was the lack of lip-syncing with what was being said. Otherwise I thought this game looked fine. - 7.5/10

SOUND - The dialogue and voice-acting are top-notch. The writing is that same quirky humor from the movies, and all the original actors are back here. However, I think there could have been more in the music department. While the music was taken straight out of the movies, there just weren't that many tracks. - 8/10

LENGTH/REPLAY VALUE - Unfortunately this is where this game takes a nosedive. While I wasn't expecting a long game here, I was a little surprised by just how short it was. There are only 7 levels, I think, and each level takes only about 45 minutes to an hour to beat at most. You could beat this game in a day if you really wanted to. I haven't done much with the multiplayer, so I can't speak to that, but the single player is very short. The only replay value here is for trophies and for other difficulty levels. Otherwise there isn't a whole lot going for this game here. - 4/10

BOTTOM LINE - Ghostbusters is a really fun game, and the only reason why this game's score is so low is due to it not having a whole lot to do. I had a lot of fun playing through it, however, and wouldn't mind playing through it again every now and then. For most though, I would only recommend this game as a rental. While it lasts, this game is a blast, especially if you're a fan of the movies. It's just hard to accept that there is so little to do, and it would have been nice if they had released some DLC with additional levels. As it is though, this is a game that is an excellent rental and will please fans of the movies. - 7/10
