A completely joyless experience.

I have played a good few video games in my life, and I have never played anything as poorly programmed as this pile of crap. I understand that the Ghosbusters are a huge cash cow, but how on Earth anyone at Sony could give the greenlight to such trash is beyond me. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis should hang their heads in shame for lending their most famous creation to such a pathetic product. The only amazing thing about this game is that it managed to see the light of day. Did the developers not have quality control? It's just so goddamn awful.

The story attempts to tie into the events of Ghostbusters 2, but the GB gang you know and love are not here. In their place we have a group of nobodies. The gameplay has you wander around a bunch of repetitive environments killing generic, indistinct ghosts (yes, killing them, not trapping - do ghosts become their own ghosts?). The AI of the other players is almost non-existent, the collision detection is appalling (often you will die without having an enemy touch you), the power-ups, such as they are, are borderline irrelevant, the cash-based scoring system is completely pointless as you cannot use that cash to level-up or anything (which is a shame since you REALLY need it to fight tougher enemies), and the comic-book cut-scenes are about as interesting watching the wallpaper curl.

If this garbage was released back in 1988 it would have been given away free on the cassette tape stuck on the front of a computer magazine. And even then it would have been a rip-off.

I am disgusted with myself for spending my time playing this.
