Better than the original, but still doesn't live up to its name

User Rating: 5.9 | Ghostbusters II NES
This is the sequel to the original, yet horrible NES game Ghostbusters. Now, the second movie was not as good as the first, but the game sort of was.

Goods:

Gameplay: This game actually has levels, and quite a few, including the Subway, the Courtroom and the Statue of Libery level. It's much better than having to drive around, capturing ghosts the entire game.

Sound: There's more music in this game. Besides the theme song, you get a few more songs from the movie, which I really can't recall, but they sound alright.

Characters: There's a lot more characters in this game. All 4 Ghostbusters as well as Vigo the movie's antagonist.

Bads:

The levels are too repetitive. The sewer, subway, courtroom and Musuem are all basically the same, but with different backgrounds. You're just blasting ghosts with green slime instead of proton beams which doesn't make a great deal of sense.

There's no pause button. COME ON! Every game should have a pause button if they have to answer the phone or take a sh*t!

Poor control: The game's controls were not designed for the NES. When you shoot at something, the slime goes in this weird pattern according to how you're pressing the control pad. So you basically can't run and shoot up at the same time.

Poor demo: There is a demo for the Achto 1, but it's basically a joke. The car doesn't even try to get around the guardrails or avoid the slime. It just keeps going forwards until eventually it'll drive itself off the cliff.

So, while it was better than the original, Ghostbusters II was not that great of a game. The real good Ghostbusters game was for the Sega Genesis because the controls were much better and there was a good veriety of enemies and levels. So I wouldn't recomment the NES version, but the Genesis version.
