It's not perfect, but then again it's not horrible. It is just the same old Gauntlet with a fresh coat of paint.

I was not sure what to expect from Gauntlet this time around, I had played all the other games and although I enjoyed playing them all none had really blown me away. From the beginning Gauntlet has been so enticing not because of gorgeous graphics or delicious gameplay, but rather how much it let you play. Four players at a time is the guarantee for any Gauntlet game, and that used to be enough to make the game alot of fun. However, this time around there is no tremendous jump in graphical capabilities since the last episode so the game sort of comes off as old hat, an expansion pack rather than a separate and deserving sequel. This does not mean there is not fun to be had with this game, because there is, this only means that it is basically the exact same fun Gauntlet fans have been having for nearly twenty years. This game means alot to many people which goes far in explaining the harsh and bitter reactions found here. Although many of us are disappointed we should try look past that and enjoy this somewhat new experience with Gauntlet and hope that Midway will perhaps bring some fresh perspective for their next rendition.
