GTA for the iPod, essentially. Stripped down to the basics for iPod/iPhone. Worth the $.

Up front Gangstar accepts what it is: a stripped down wannabe GTA. And in truth it pretty much delivers on the promise of a fun time with missions and some sandbox play, although the latter is somewhat hampered by the iPod/iPhone's limited processing power.

The missions were fun and I was surprised to find that there were a lot more missions than I would have originally expected. You even get to choose to side with the Italian or Japanese gangs. The gun selection is good but could be better, and stealing cars works just like in GTA (even with in-car radio).

As for criticism there are plenty if you were to compare it to the PS3/XBOX360 version of GTAIV but such a comparison would be unfair. Where this game fails to deliver is minor but would be in the area of sandbox mode. Limited by its slower processing power this game has a short memory so most areas are "refreshed" once you are just a little bit out of range. Meaning like 30m of in-game distance.

Overall though this game is excellent and I would highly recommend it.
