Good, but lacks depth and replay value

User Rating: 7 | Game Dev Tycoon PC

The Good

-You get to develop games from the C64 era all the way to the PS4 era.

-Not many other games like this one.

-Game is simple and addicting.

The bad

-Lacks depth

-Has little replay value once you have finished a campaign and figured out the winning formulas for each game type.

-Even after the steam update the game doesn't give you enough statistics and data.

The game suffers from some very serious problems, but is still very good considering it costs 10 bucks. Before the STEAM update which I hear fixed a lot of the game's worst issues (but not all) I would not have bought this game. But now it seems to be worth it.

The biggest problem with the game is the lack if information and statistics. For example, when you look at an old game you released in the past you can't see what engine you used to make it with, and thus you don't always know if you should make a sequel to it or not.

The game is also fairly light in terms of depth. I also am not sure how much replay value it will have once I am done with it, because once you know how to make a good game there is little else to explore in terms of content. The lack of depth just makes this problem worse, because make no mistake: This is a simple game.

I would give it an 8/10, but largely because of how cheap it is. Its worth the money, but it could be much better.
