The 20 Greatest Things About To Happen To Your PS4
The Last Guardian
Just when most people had given up on ever seeing The Last Guardian again, Sony kicked off this year's show with a five-minute demo of the resurrected game. From the designer of arthouse hits such as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian has nearly a decade of hype preceding it. PS4 owners will finally get their hands on the game in 2016. Final Fantasy VII Remake
This year Sony was dedicated to delivering projects that fans have been requesting for years. The highest item on everyone's wish list likely was the near mythically unattainable Final Fantasy VII remake. The game that put RPGs on the map in the late 1990s will finally get the full HD treatment from the ground up. Somebody pinch us. (Photo: Square Enix)
Shenmue III
The dream of the 1990s is alive at E3! After satisfying Final Fantasy fans at its press conference, Sony brought legendary Shenmue designer Yu Suzuki on stage to announce his plans for a Shenmue III Kickstarter campaign. Audience members literally stood gaping in disbelief. (Photo: Sony)
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted is the poster child for grand cinematic adventures, and developer Naughty Dog showed off Uncharted 4 with a rollicking jeep chase through crowded market streets. Nathan Drake always finds himself in a catastrophic heap of trouble, and we wouldn't want it any other way. (Photo: Sony)
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Killzone developer Guerrilla Games just announced a stunning new title starring a red-headed hunter named Aloy. In the gameplay sequence shown during Sony's press conference, Aloy uses a bow and arrow to take on a herd of menacing robotic dinosaurs. Horizon looks like a truly original game that features some of the most remarkable visuals we've seen so far for the PS4. (Photo: Sony)
Street Fighter V
Prepare for the battle. Prepare for the war. Street Fighter is back, and this time Capcom has a host of technical tricks up its sleeves, including parries and stun gauges. This installment looks to be one of the most intricate fighters since Third Strike. (Photo: Capcom)
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Even a small glimpse at the next Mass Effect installment is enough to get any fan delirious with excitement. The space opera RPG is planned for PC and current-gen only, which means it will take full advantage of the power of your PS4. EA has said the game will follow all-new characters exploring unique planets, now that Commander Shepard's story has come to a close. (Photo: Electronic Arts)
Dark Souls III
With the recent success of Bloodborne, it was only a matter of time until From Software announced a new official entry in the Souls series. We got a small glimpse at Dark Souls III in an announcement teaser at Microsoft's conference, but PS4 owners won't get left in the dust. From Software plans to release the game on both consoles. Star Wars Battlefront
It's a fantastic year to be a Star Wars fan. Between the release of the new Star Wars film sequels, Disney Infinity's extensive Star Wars offerings, and a new Battlefront game, we're completely spoiled. EA DICE has clearly aimed high with Battlefront's visuals. You've never seen a Stormtrooper explode with this level of fidelity. (Photo: Electronic Arts)
Fallout 4
Fallout 4 didn't get any direct mentions in Sony's conference, and while the Xbox One is getting the first shot at the game's mod scene, creative lead Todd Howard says he hopes to eventually introduce mods on the PS4 as well. Either way, Fallout 4 looks like one of this year's must-own games. (Photo: Bethesda)
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
The follow up game no one thought we’d ever see is finally arriving in early 2016. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst features a rooftop runner Faith, who navigates a dystopian world hellbent on destroying personal privacy. (Photo: Electronic Arts)
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
With nine mainline Assassin's Creed games, it's understandable to have a little franchise fatigue by now. But this new game's steampunky, industrial revolution setting may be just the spark needed to get us hooked again. The PS4 will be receiving exclusive Dreadful Crimes missions for the game. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands
With three major Tom Clancy games in development, it's hard to keep track of which tactical shooter deserves the most attention. Ubisoft just announced Wildlands, and it definitely looks like the most interesting of the bunch. This gritty, open-world romp through the underworld of the cocaine trade stole the show at Ubisoft's press conference. (Photo: Ubisoft)
No Man's Sky
Sony has teased us for a few years now with hints about this fly-anywhere, explore-everything game, but now, it looks closer to release than ever before. The fly test run saw the developer chose a random planet to explore, a feat that demonstrated the breathtaking scope of this ambitious game. (Photo: Sony)
Dreams
The inscrutable new game from the creators of Little Big Planet is so artsy that no one's exactly sure how the game works. Here's what we do know: It lets players paint and animate the dreams of a piano player, a raven, and a hoverbike racer. (Photo: Sony)
Project Morpheus
We expected Project Morpheus to get a bigger push at Sony's E3 press conference, but it is admittedly difficult to demonstrate the virtues of virtual reality to a giant crowd. Sony did announce some cool multiplayer plans for the device, though so expect to hear a lot more from them soon, as well as reports on upcoming games like EVE: Valkyrie, The Deep, and Rigs. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Sony has declared Playstation as "the new home of Call of Duty,” and the upcoming PS4 beta drives the point home. The DLC is currently coming to PS4 first, with no scheduled date for an Xbox release. This is quite a reversal compared with seasons past, when Xbox usually got the lion’s share of early Call of Duty DLC. Xbox One will still get Black Ops III, just without all the early bells and whistles. (Photo: Activision)
PlayStation Vue
Sometimes the most fun E3 curveballs come from minor enhancements to the consoles. This year, Sony's upgrading our PS4s to allow à la carte cable channel subscriptions through its PlayStation Vue service. Pay a fee to subscribe to standalone channels such Showtime on the PS4. Hooray! (Photo: Sony)
Ratchet & Clank
Have you ever watched a Pixar film and wondered, "What if video games look like this one day?" Well, that day has arrived via Insomniac Games's Ratchet & Clank remake. The game is technically a tie-in with an upcoming feature film, but the vibrant comic future on display here makes the PS4 game the real highlight. (Photo: Sony)
Hitman
Hitman has come a long way since its infamous "nuns and guns" trailer a few years back. This year's CG trailer was almost stately in comparison, but it still contained enough of the game's sleek style to pique the interest of fans. Sony has secured a beta and an exclusive batch of DLC for the PS4. (Photo: Square Enix)
