A hearse made into an Ecto-1... That's fitting.
Over the course of the June 8 weekend in Los Angeles, Wizard World helped celebrate the 35th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters movie with Ghostbusters Fan Fest, a convention celebrating all things busting ghosts. The two-day event featured the cast and director of the original 1984 movie, as well as Jason Reitman stopping by to deliver some news about the 2020 sequel.
In addition, there were other celebrities involved in the original movies, the animated series, and the IDW comic books available in attendance, along with Ghostbusters cosplay, and of course, custom cars made to either look like the iconic Ecto-1 or to fit into the Ghostbusters universe.
While attending the fan fest, we snapped a few photos of some of the coolest cars, and bikes, that went through the Ghostbusters customization process. There was tons of creativity and attention to detail to bring these cars to life. Check them out for yourself below.
A Toyota FJ Cruiser Ecto-1
For when you want to explore the wilderness, off-road, but also have to pick up the kids from school at 3.
Not the original, but pretty close
This looks very close to the original Ecto-1, but the one from the film was longer and had more of a bubble-y shape at the top of the back.
Same car, from the front
Another hearse
This one had actual Ghostbusters hanging out with it.
PT Cruiser Ecto-1
Complete with revamped wagon for kids, this Ecto-1 lets people know that you're all about the year 2000, and somehow, you kept this car running for 19 years.
Yet another hearse
When you're hunting the dead, you may as well drive around in style.
Possibly the original?
This may actually be the original Ecto-1.
Mini-Cooper Ecto-1
Leaving those Twinkies in the hot sun is a bad idea.
Dirtbike Ecto-1
Cars, schmars. Why waste all your time customizing a big car, when you can slap a sticker and a basket onto a dirtbike? You know this Ghostbuster means business.
Four-Door Pick-Up Truck Ecto-4X4
Sometimes, ghosts need to be chased into the forest, or shallow stream, or they need a couch moved from their apartment. Can a normal Ecto-1 do those things? Nope, but this one can! This is also the perfect Ghostbusting machine for someone who loves El Caminos but refuses to buy one because they're just too low to the ground.
