Strength
Strength measures your raw physical power, allowing you a higher threshold in melee damage and carrying capacity. It also allows you to craft specialized protective armor and utilize special customizations to melee weapons. It consists of the following perks:
- Iron Fist (STR 1)
- Big Leagues (STR 2)
- Armorer (STR 3)
- Blacksmith (STR 4)
- Heavy Gunner (STR 5)
- Strong Back (STR 6)
- Steady Aim (STR 7)
- Basher (STR 8)
- Rooted (STR 9)
- Pain Train (STR 10)

Iron Fist (STR 1)
Perk Description: Unarmed attacks get increased damage and other bonus capabilities.
- Rank 1: Punch attacks inflict 20% more damage to enemies. (Requires Strength 1)
- Rank 2: Punch attacks inflict 40% more damage, and you can disarm an enemy's weapon. (Unlocks at level 9)
- Rank 3: Punch attacks inflict 60% more damage, while unarmed power attacks have a chance to cripple one of your enemy's limbs. (Unlocks at level 18)
- Rank 4: Punch attacks inflict 80% more damage, while unarmed power attacks have an increased chance of crippling one of your enemy's limbs. (Unlocks at level 31)
- Rank 5: Punch attacks inflict double the damage, while criticals in V.A.T.S. paralyze your opponent. (Unlocks at level 41)
Big Leagues (STR 2)
Perk Description: Melee weapons get increased damage and other bonus capabilities.
- Rank 1: Melee attacks inflict 20% more damage to enemies. (Requires Strength 2)
- Rank 2: Melee attacks inflict 40% more damage to enemies, and you have a chance at disarming an enemy. (Unlocks level 7)
- Rank 3: Melee attacks inflict 60% more damage to enemies, and you get an increased chance at disarming an enemy. (Unlocks at level 15)
- Rank 4: Melee attacks inflict 80% more damage to enemies and you hit all targets in front of you. (Unlocks at level 27)
- Rank 5: Melee attacks do double the damage, and you gain the chance to cripple an enemy, or knock their head clean off. (Unlocks at level 42)
Armorer (STR 3)
Perk Description: Gain the ability to use armor modifications.
- Rank 1: Gain access to base level and Rank 1 armor mods. (Requires Strength 3)
- Rank 2: Gain access to Rank 2 armor mods. (Unlocks at level 13)
- Rank 3: Gain access to Rank 3 armor mods. (Unlocks at level 25)
- Rank 4: Gain access to Rank 4 armor mods. (Unlocks at level 39)
Blacksmith (STR 4)
Perk Description: Gain the ability to use melee weapon modifications.
- Rank 1: Gain access to base level and Rank 1 melee weapon mods. (Requires Strength 4)
- Rank 2: Gain access to Rank 2 melee weapon mods. (Unlocks at level 16)
- Rank 3: Gain access to Rank 3 melee weapon mods. (Unlocks at level 29)
Heavy Gunner (STR 5)
Perk Description: Heavy firearms gain increased damage and other bonus capabilities.
- Rank 1: Heavy firearms do 20% more damage. (Requires Strength 5)
- Rank 2: Heavy firearms do 40% more damage and gain improved hip-firing accuracy. (Unlocks at level 11)
- Rank 3: Heavy firearms do 60% more damage and gain higher high hip-firing accuracy. (Unlocks at level 21)
- Rank 4: Heavy firearms do 80% more damage and can potentially stagger an enemy. (Unlocks at 35)
- Rank 5: Heavy firearms do twice as much damage. (Unlocks at 47)
Strong Back (STR 6)
Perk Description: Increases your overall carrying weight.
- Rank 1: Gain +25 to your carry weight. (Requires Strength 6)
- Rank 2: Gain +50 to your carry weight. (Unlocks at level 10)
- Rank 3: You can use Action Points to run while overencumbered. (Unlocks at level 20)
- Rank 4: You can fast travel while overencumbered. (Unlocks at level 30)
Steady Aim (STR 7)
Perk Description: Your character gains increased hip-fire accuracy.
- Rank 1: Hip-fire accuracy is improved for all firearms. (Requires Strength 7)
- Rank 2: Hip-fire accuracy improves even more for all firearms. (Unlocks at level 28)
Basher (STR 8)
Perk Description: Gun bashing gains increased damage and other bonus capabilities.
- Rank 1: Gun bashing damage is increased by 25%. (Requires Strength 8)
- Rank 2: Gun bashing damage is increased by 50% and can potentially cripple an enemy. (Unlocks at level 5)
- Rank 3: Gun bashing damage is increased by 75% and an increased chance at crippling an enemy. (Unlocks at level 14)
- Rank 4: Gun bashing does double the damage and a greater chance at crippling an enemy. It may also inflict a critical hit. (Unlocks at level 26)
Rooted (STR 9)
Perk Description: You gain various attack and defense bonuses while standing still.
- Rank 1: While standing still, you gain +25 damage resistance and a 25% boost to both melee and unarmed attacks. (Requires Strength 9)
- Rank 2: While standing still, you gain +50 damage resistance and a 50% boost to both melee and unarmed attacks. (Unlocks at level 27)
- Rank 3: While standing still, you automatically disarm enemies that use melee weapons against you. (Unlocks at level 43)
Pain Train (STR 10)
Perk Description: Sprinting in Power Armor yields various offensive bonuses.
- Rank 1: While in Power Armor, sprinting into enemies damages and staggers them. (Requires Strength 10)
- Rank 2: While in Power Armor, sprinting into enemies severely damages enemies and causes a more powerful stagger. (Unlocks at level 24)
- Rank 3: While in Power Armor, sprinting into enemies causes lethal damage to enemies and knocks them down. Impact landing causes damage to nearby enemies as well. (Unlocks at level 50)
