Intelligence

Intelligence measures your character's mental proficiency, mainly influencing the number of experience points you earn per level. But its more unique benefits give your character advanced knowledge, giving them access to new places and technology, as well as complex weapons crafting. It consists of the following perks:

  • V.A.N.S. (INT 1)
  • Medic (INT 2)
  • Gun Nut (INT 3)
  • Hacker (INT 4)
  • Scrapper (INT 5)
  • Science (INT 6)
  • Chemist (INT 7)
  • Robotics Expert (INT 8)
  • Nuclear Physicist (INT 9)
  • Nerd Rage (INT 10)

  • Rank 1: The closest quest target is displayed in V.A.T.S. (Requires Intelligence 1)
Medic (INT 2)

Perk Description: Stimpaks and RadAway become more effective.

  • Rank 1: Stimpaks restore 40% of lost health and RadAway removes 40% of radiation. (Requires Intelligence 2)
  • Rank 2: Stimpaks restore 60% of lost health and RadAway removes 60% of radiation. (Unlocks at level 20)
  • Rank 3: Stimpaks restore 80% of lost health and RadAway removes 80% of radiation. (Unlocks at level 41)
  • Rank 4: Stimpaks restores all lost health and RadAway removes all radiation, working more quickly in the process. (Unlocks at level 49)
Gun Nut (INT 3)

Perk Description: Gain access to advanced gun modifications.

  • Rank 1: Gain access to base level and Rank 1 gun mods. (Requires Intelligence 3)
  • Rank 2: Gain access to Rank 2 gun mods. (Unlocks at level 13)
  • Rank 3: Gain access to Rank 3 gun mods. (Unlocks at level 25)
  • Rank 4: Gain access to Rank 4 gun mods. (Unlocks at level 39)
Hacker (INT 4)

Perk Description: Gain the knowledge required to hack all sorts of terminals.

  • Rank 1: You can hack Advanced terminals. (Requires Intelligence 4)
  • Rank 2: You can hack Expert terminals. (Unlocks at level 9)
  • Rank 3: You can hack Master terminals. (Unlocks at level 21)
  • Rank 4: Never get locked out of a terminal regardless of how many times you fail. (Unlocks at level 33)
Scrapper (INT 5)

Perk Description: Salvage uncommon components to quickly build up a variety of elements.

  • Rank 1: You can salvage uncommon components when scrapping weapons and armor. (Requires Intelligence 5)
  • Rank 2: You can salvage rare components when scrapping weapons and armor. Items with favorable components are highlighted. (Unlocks at level 23)
Science! (INT 6)

Perk Description: Gain access to stronger high-tech modifications.

  • Rank 1: Gain access to base level and Rank 1 high-tech mods. (Requires Intelligence 3)
  • Rank 2: Gain access to Rank 2 high-tech mods. (Unlocks at level 17)
  • Rank 3: Gain access to Rank 3 high-tech mods. (Unlocks at level 28)
  • Rank 4: Gain access to Rank 4 high-tech mods. (Unlocks at level 41)
Chemist (INT 7)

Perk Description: The effects of chems increase.

  • Rank 1: The effects of chems last 50% longer. (Requires Intelligence 7)
  • Rank 2: The effects of chems last twice as long. (Unlocks at level 16)
  • Rank 3: The effects of chems last 150% longer. (Unlocks at level 32)
  • Rank 4: The effects of chems last 200% longer. (Unlocks at level 45)
Robotics Expert (INT 8)

Robotics Expert (INT 8)

Base Perk Description: Hack robots and order them to do your bidding.

  • Rank 1: You can hack a robot to either turn them on or off, or initiate its self destruct sequence. (Requires Intelligence 8)
  • Rank 2: When you hack a robot, you can order it to attack. (Unlocks at level 17)
  • Rank 3: When you hack a robot, you can issue specific commands to it. (Unlocks at level 28)
Nuclear Physicist (INT 9)

Nuclear Physicist (INT 9)

Perk Description: Radiation weapons do 50% more damage and Fusion Cores last 25% longer.

  • Rank 1: Radiation weapons inflict 50% more damage and Fusion Cores last 25% longer. (Requires Intelligence 9)
  • Rank 2: Radiation weapons inflict double the damage and Fusion Cores last 50% longer. (Unlocks at level 14)
  • Rank 3: Fusion Cores last twice as long and you can eject them out of Power Armor like a grenade. (Unlocks at level 26)
Nerd Rage (INT 10)

Nerd Rage (INT 10)

Base Perk Description: When health is below 20%, time slows down and you gain +20 Damage Resistance and do 20% more damage in the duration of this perk's effect.

  • Rank 1: When health is below 20%, time slows down and you gain +20 Damage Resistance and do 20% more damage in the duration of this perk's effect. (Requires Intelligence 10)
  • Rank 2: You gain +30 Damage Resistance and 30% more damage. (Unlocks at level 31)
  • Rank 3: You gain +40 Damage Resistance and 40% more damage. Kills you make also restore some of your health. (Unlocks at level 50)
