Suicide Squad is actually good
This might be an unpopular opinion, but Suicide Squad—the same film lambasted by most critics (but not us!)—is actually kind of good. Seriously. Don't believe us? Well, here are 14 reasons why the haters are wrong, and you should actually see this.
And, warning: If you haven't seen the movie, but are planning to, you might want to save this gallery for later. There are spoilers in here!
Harley Quinn steals the show
There isn't a character like Harley Quinn in any superhero film. Margot Robbie's portrayal of Quinn is so much more than just being the Joker's lover. She's a marquee character who also makes the DC Universe a lot more fun than it was before Suicide Squad.

Deadshot's "audition" is the best scene in the film
The most iconic moment in Suicide Squad features Will Smith’s Deadshot proving his undeniable marksman skills. He exemplifies just how precise a shot he is to Waller and Rick Flag. Deadshot then proceeds to put on an impressive gun show, where he shoots a hole through the same spot on multiple targets. It’s easily the best scene in the film.

Will Smith’s charisma is turned up
It might have been out of necessity to save the film, but Will Smith is in fine form in Suicide Squad. Following his shooting "audition" for Flag and Waller, Smith’s charisma shines when he shows Deadshot is more than just a gun for hire.

Amanda Waller is badder than bad
In a movie overstuffed with villains, nobody is more cruel and menacing than Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller. Director David Ayer smartly humanizes Task Force X, while making Davis a cold, calculated sociopath.

El Diablo is captivating
Every fan knows who the Joker and Batman are. But what about El Diablo? El Diablo is Chato Santana (Jay Hernandez), a Mexican gang member with a tragic backstory. He turns into the deepest (and most badass) character in the entire film. DC needs to give this "villain" a prequel immediately.

Harley Quinn's gun
Quinn does some serious damage with her wooden baseball bat in Suicide Squad, but her coolest weapon is the .357 magnum with an ivory grip that alternates between “love” and “hate” when fired.

The music in the movie is awesome
Since the much-talked-about trailer was full of great music, there was never a doubt Suicide Squad’s score would be any different. The film uses the popular (and expensive) songs “Superfreak,” “Without Me,” “Spirit In the Sky,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” to name a few.

Suicide Squad's surprising "demands"
After Task Force X successfully saves Midway City, the Suicide Squadders believe they are in a position of leverage to negotiate their freedom. But instead, the movie's writers throw the audience a curveball. Deadshot instead demands that his daughter to go to college at an Ivy League school; Killer Croc wants BET; Quinn asks for an espresso machine.

Their attire looks great
Yes, Suicide Squad might have massive plot holes and two-dimensional characters, but Task Force X’s attire is pretty freakin' sweet. Deadshot has a dope hat (and sometimes a white helmet), Diablo rocks an un-uniform–Dickies and a muscle shirt–and we also get to see a mean human crocodile wearing a hoodie. And who doesn't love Quinn's "Daddy's Little Monster" shirt?

The budding relationships
Suicide Squad might not have done a stellar job of explaining character backstories, but seeing the budding relationships between the likes of Deadshot, Quinn, Flag and the Joker is a fascinating aspect of the film. And it should improve future DC films.

After watching Jared Leto's performance as the Clown Prince of Crime, it's definitely a good thing he wasn't featured that much.

It's pretty funny
Despite its dark tone, Suicide Squad is actually full of laughs—which you can't say about the weirdly dreary Man of Steel or Batman v Superman. Nearly every character has at least one line that'll make you laugh, and the addition of funny-man Ike Barinholtz sure doesn't hurt.

The fans actually liked it
While the reviews have made it sound like Suicide Squad is a poor excuse for a film, fans who watched the movie seemed to like it. The user score on Metacritic is 6.8, which is a “generally favorable review,” according to the site.
In fact, Suicide Squad's MetaScore of 40 places it above Superman IV, GreenLantern and Catwoman.
