This is absolutely not Galaga

When I first heard about Galaga Legions, I was a bit wary, yet hopeful that it might be as good if not better than the arcade classic which still steals my money at the laundromat every week. Unfortunately, my wariness was well placed, as this is really just another generic modern shooter which has very little in common with its namesake. The only similarities between the two games is the sound design and the "vintage" skin which gives ostensibly the ships an old-school Galaga look (but don't mind the bad pixelization).
The thing that made Galaga, and other games of its ilk, like Gorf, Space Invaders, and Galaxian, so good was that you actually felt as if you were the last defense of planet earth against the alien invaders. With Galaga Legions, I feel like I'm playing a video game. Your money would be much better spent on the far superior Geometry Wars 2 or the amazing Space Invaders Extreme for the DS. If only someone would port *that* to XBL.
