The G-Force game is a nice surprise.

G-Force, the blockbuster movie from Disney might've gained a bunch of haters (I liked it). But I dare anyone to play G-Force: The Game, and not be, at least, slightly entertained by what it has to offer. You play as Darwin, and that's the only guinea pig from the movie you'll control. You can, and occasionally must, play as Mooch the fly in order to bypass security systems, slow down time and solve puzzles. I would've liked to play as Blaster, but he's not voiced by the great Tracy Morgan, so it's not that big of a problem. Only Sam Rockwell, Bill Nighy, the dude from Hangover (and i think) Jon Favrau lend their voices.

The game is a third person action/adventure shooter. You start off with an electric whip and a plasma canon. By the end of the game you'll have a pretty impressive arsenal at your disposal. Including a Freeze-gun, flamethrower and a gun that allows you to take control over enemy machines. These are cool to use, but there are some that are better than others. And some you'll hardly ever use. The enemies are, as I mentioned, machines, more specificaly, they're household appliances that turn into robots. So you'll fight stuff like electric shavers, microwave ovens and coffee makers. There's always new enemies too discover. Vehicle sections are the best, where you run in this hamster ball, too bad there are only two sections like this in the game. You also have a jetpack, which allows you to jump higher, but also run faster.

Some overly long missions kinda drag, but luckily you have the option to save between each checkpoint. The game doesn't autosave, so be aware. Also, just like any other moviebased game lately, it doesn't follow the movie until the very last level. Though the villains motivation here isn't fully explained, unlike in the movie. I wish the final battle was more like in the movie, and that you get to control Darwin, but you don't. The ending is also different. There's nothing to unlock, except a new difficulty setting and achievements. Also the 3D, can't tell you much about it. I had to take the glasses off after about a minute as it mad my eyes hurt.

You'll finish the game in 7-8 hours. And it's actually challenging at times, but never frustrating. Kids will maybe have a hard time with some of the more intricate puzzles. But they'll have fun, it's kinda like a "my first shooter".
