Entertaining in short bursts.

With Future Cop there are two major game modes on offer. One is the rather short single player campaign, which consists of a few semi-urban (feels more dungeon-like) areas where you are given a nonsense briefing and then lay down the beating on anything that moves. After the introductory level it quickly boils down to very linear "find the key, activate the lift, get stuck in a pit with a multitude of enemies, find the three items to open the doors" kind of game, which ruined any suspension of disbelief. Personally I would have liked a more open-styled cityscape, like in say Syndicate or G-Police.

Now, the multiplayer game on the other hand is a fast paced action struggle between two teams trying to capture each other's base camp. Kudos to the designers for making a computer opponent that is actually fun to play against, complete with excellent voice acting that keeps taunting you with pleasantly ironic remarks.

Coming to the PC as a no frills console-port there are some niggles with this one (keyboard mapping for changing vehicle form proved especially frustrating) but all in all it doesn't suffer like some console games seem to do. I was surprised at the fact that I keep going back to this game time and time again to give that pesky "Sky Marshal" a good kicking. Highly recommended shooter!
