Front Mission did it really evolved?

User Rating: 7.5 | Front Mission Evolved PS3
I have been a fan of the Front Mission Series since it came out on the PS1. In this newest installment instead of a tactical game it is a Gundam style mecha shoot em up. Story is pretty decent if you understand japanese style stories.

Story:
You play as Dylan Ramsey USN engineer who is testing a newly created wanzer that Dylan modified to hack into systems when he wants to. During his tests a attack struck New York City with the enemies aiming to destroy the orbital elevator and you decided to help and fight. You eventually get recruited as a specialist in the USN Army.

Gameplay:
Control your wanzer and fight through waves of enemies with your guns or rockets and even your knuckles. In some missions you also control the main protagonist a USN engineer named Dylan Ramsey to fight through waves of foot soldiers or sometimes fight off a wanzer that is trying to kill you with its guns. Your wanzers are still customizable exactly like in the past Front Missions and as always customization options are limited until you continue and progress through the game to unlock more. This game also introduces the E.D.G.E. system which is mainly Front Mission's version of bullet time and with a kick of buffed attacks that can really help change the condition you are in like an ambush for example. You can also play multiplayer with up to eight players.

The Verdict:
If you are a mecha/gundam fan, then this game might be right for you and if you understand the concept of a japanese game's story you should be able to enjoy it without criticizing it. Also if you are a long time fan of the whole Front Mission series i really recommend giving this a try because really it has evolved.
