I was so excited... and all my expectations were crushed.

I finished the game in four hours. I did not stay and play around as I hate the fact that my powers are limited by time. The interface is clearly made with console in mind and the mouse is sketchy at best. I expected a world of Godly fun, but instead it was all about the culture of the population and the vegetation and the nature and the music and the land. I honestly couldn't care about spiritualism. If I want to be enlightened, I'll read Jean-Paul Sartre, I won't play video games. I went in the game expecting a sandbox of mass destruction and came out with an excuse of a story line, with superficial graphics, interface and gameplay. It is clear that the developers had conflicting ideas when making this game. Eric Chahi was all about the spiritualism, while others probably wanted a focus on the powers, and some wanted to give a story in order to introduce the use of the powers. All in all, it felt like a mess between what I mentioned above.

I disagree with the idea of challenges because the only thing stopping you from completely crushing the challenges is the sketchy interface and the limited God powers.

I have heard on forums that the last level is a sandbox mode in itself. I skipped through the levels to get there, but honestly, I was not expecting much by the end of the game. That is not really a sandbox mode, it's very limiting and very basic. I want a full sandbox mode because that is why I bought the game. I couldn't care less about the excuse of a story, the history of imaginary cultures and the fauna and flora of a created planet. I have books for that, thank you.

Now, I waited for the past year for this game, so it would be unfair to judge it up to my expectations. It was an entertaining four hours, well worth my 15$. I cannot wait for expansions with multiplayer and a full sandbox mode. Please invest more in the kind of game, as it represents the dream of mankind and the dream of every child.

Cheers Ubisoft!
