User Rating: 7.5 | Freedom Fighters XBOX
While the game may get a +1 on the PC versus the console, On the Xbox, it comes off as a bit unpolished and short. It does, however, offer some great gameplay. Certainly, the Console version should have lost a point for the lack of customizable controls. The precision aiming is just a little quirky and tough to get down. The acceleration of the cursor reveals its "PC" design with the mouse providing the best, natural control. Certainly, Freedom Fighters lack of polish on the Xbox deserves note as well. In a single session of gaming you will easily notice clipping and camera issues as well as some re-draw problems. If it were not for the exceptional fun of the core gameplay this title would have been overlooked by nearly everyone. Fortunately for Freedom Fighters, the gameplay is a blast. Not a "9.3" blast (not sure if Jeff actually played anything but the PC version) but a lot of fun. Normally, I think games deserve the same score but when control and polish are clearly better on one platform than another the scores should reflect that difference. A 9.3 is a pretty hefty score that should not be thrown around for a game that has some of the issues that Freedom Fighters has. That being said, it is a fun game but not very long. But I have always said I would rather have short fun game than a long dull one. Still, its short length does not help it any. For fans of simple action heavy squad games, Freedom Fighters should fit the bill.
