It may be a carbon copy of the original, but it's still fun and engaging.

The Good: Surprisingly good story with shocking plot twist, better art style, improved combat style, interesting variety of fossils.

The Bad: Art style isn't necessarily improved, easy except for final boss, uninspired level design, almost exactly the same as the original.

The original Fossil Fighters was fun. It has good gameplay, an entertaining story, and a fun minigame. I was wondering what the sequel would be like? There is a sequel. It is called Fossil Fighers Champions.

In this game, you are also a twerpy kid. You and your buddy, Todd, are out and about when all of a sudden, an Allosaurus (which is a vivosaur, a collectible dinosaur in the game) attacks you. You are rescued by none other than Joe Wildewest, a champion fossil fighter. A few years later, you and Todd go to Caliosteo island, where you go into a tournament, the winner gets to own the island. But, while it goes on, a group of bad guys named the BareBones Brigade, comes to torment all the enterers. It's up to you to stop them and discover the mystery behind him. Okay, now onto the review.

The story is actually really good. Better than the original. It's entertaining and funny! Not to mention it has a surprisingly good plot twist. Don't want to spoil anything, but it's good.

The art style is slightly better, but I wouldn't say they've improved. In fact, in this game, the looks of some things got worse. They're more 3D-ish.

The combat is still really good, but it got even better. You have more to do in your fight, like have two in the attack zone or you can switch them around to your hearts content, making the game slightly harder and giving you more strategy.

The game is still easy, but it's slightly harder than the original, mainly because of the final boss. It's tough. It would be a lot easier if the freaking vivosaurs didn't regenerate after you killed them!

The level design seemed to get worse. They all seem like the same thing with a little bit of a variation in the path. There isn't a whole lot interesting there.

The worst part about the game is how similar it is to the original. I swear, it's more like the original than the current Pokemon games are similar to the original. So many things about this game are carbon copies, like the cleaning, the digging, the vivosaurs, the turn based combat, the dorky robot that you talk to to clean your fossils, even the fossils themselves are very similar.

That being said, some of the fossils are very interesting. There are curious fossils, fossils you have to clean two sides of, and giant fossils, fossils that contain all body parts. It also has wondrous and miraculous fossil rocks. Wondrous fossil rocks improve the stats of one of your vivosaurs, but the miraculous fossil rocks completely change your vivosaur into a tough, big, powerful vivosaur. That's pretty cool!

Overall, this game is fun. It suffers from being too similar than the original, but it's made up for its fun combat and entertaining story. It is better than the first, just barely. Go ahead and get it! It's worth a try.
