Because the outer part uses the same material as the original ps3, nothing new.

Use something non-abrasive to wipe off the dust.

Use those Swiffer dust cloths. They really clean up dust and they're soft, so no scratches.

The question is what did you wipe it with? No I don't have the 360 S but I do know with a piano black finish like it has the best things to use are the afore-mentioned swiffer, a microfibre cloth, or a 100% cotton cloth. The first time you wipe it down with any paper towel product (toilet tissue, kleenex, napkin, a paper towel, shop towels) the surface will be scratched and the more you use those products the worse it will look. Considering what damage is done and if you do not want it to get worse go get a pack of microfibre cloths (typically found with the automotive cleaning items.)

THere are tons of TV and computer screens that have the exact same surface as the xbox 360 slim, I'm not sure what the shock is about. Use a soft cloth that you would use to clean a border of a flat screen LCD/plasma.
