Most IP's (Internet Providers) give you a router when you get internet. But if this wasn't the case for you, I would check circuit city or best buy and they'll point you in the right direction

First off, how far away is your Xbox from your modem?

The decision depends on many things. Do you have a lot of people in your house, does your computer need to be hooked up at the same time? If you answer no on both of those, then you can just plug an ethernet cable from your modem straight to your 360 and you're good to go.

If your computer needs to stay connected to the internet though, any router will do. The only quality issue with routers is when you go wireless. Since you're staying wired, any Linksys router will do.
