When I first heard the 500 dollar price of the x box one x I thought that is not terrible. Then I realized that is 500 american. In canada where I live that is 600 dollars plus tax so the total will be close to 700. That is way too pricey. I recommend that my fellow canadians wait till it drops in price

Or just get an XBOX One S for 1/2 the cost (or a different console). I don't think the 1X is for everyone. It's for those who want the most powerful console on the market, and willing to pay that premium. I think if Microsoft wanted to have a better launch, they needed a few more exclusive games to take advantage of the powerful hardware. As for is 500 too expensive?? I think it depends who you are, and how you look at it. I think the hardware can justify the price tag, but I don't think the exclusive xbox games do. To me, the biggest factor that no one is talking about, since this is a mid-generation upgrade, when is PS5/XB2 coming out?? History shows it will likely be around 2020... Thus about 3 years life cycle as the most powerful. Maybe 4. Personally not for me, but will probably start saving for the next gen consoles now.

@sayuta: Well it's $650 here in Australia, but I have a job and can afford it, so the price doesn't concern me.

£450 here. Thought it was going to be a lot more at about £550 to £600 just for console it self. When can you order UK ?. Going into town on Friday after hospital and going to treat my self. I hope they don't announce a slim / pro version though at next E3 lol.

@skipper847: Considering how tightly packed the console is it's doubtful they can slim it down even more any time soon. Pre-orders won't open until the console has been approved by the FCC/whatever the equivalent is in the UK. Hopefully the wait for approval isn't too long.

It's a great value for what your getting. There are 4k blu ray players that can cost you $300 alone. X1X is the most 4k capable console on the market and is going to be for at least the next 2-3 years.

If you own a large 4k TV (45+") I think it's worth it...and an even better value if you have a lot of 360 stuff or even original Xbox stuff as it will make those look and run better. If 499 is a lot of $ to you and you don't even have a 4k TV to get the max visuals out of X1X, not sure it's downsampling visual improvements for 1080p users is really worth it.

But improving those load times after you die in Witcher 3...I'm looking forward to that.

Nope. Hence the name, I will be paying for it in Canadian dollars, and am fine with the price. I see lots of comments from people about the price being "too high" , but the thing is for anybody that has even thought this once the system wasn't conceived with any of you in mind. When I got my TV MSRP was like 5K, and the XBoneX is going to get my money's worth out of it (and my seldomly used Elite controller). There's consoles on both sides for people on a budget, the XBoneX is for people that can afford to indulge themselves. I for one, was surprised at the price announcement. I thought it would be up to a couple hundred more. Can't wait!!

It's a decent amount of money, but not terrible. Luckily I've been selling useless things I have laying around and have a little over $400 currently so it doesn't bother me to take a chance on buying it.

There are xbox one s and ps4 slim for cheaper and then ps4 pro and one x costing more.

If money is an issue just get an xbox one s for half price or ps4 slim

I hope enough people share that sentiment so I'm more likely to get one at launch.

Anyhow, the price isn't as much of a concern in contrast to the 4K UHD OLED I want with it.

Sure, if you ignore everything besides the price to buy the hardware, you might save a few hundert bucks. If you however consider stuff like being forced to pay to play online or the more expensive games, you have a really bad deal here.

@ArchoNils2: You get a lot of value with Gold. If $60 is a lot of money to you your 12 years old or made bad life decisions, neither of which is Microsoft's problem.

Don't want to hear that expensive games on console bullshit. You mean like Doom 2016 on sale for $15 recently? Or Just Cause 3 given with PS+ membership? Or the 7.50 I paid for both Metro Redux titles? Or maybe the $5 I paid for the newest Dragon Age? Or perhaps you mean $19 I paid for Fall out 4? Or $10 I got Wolfenstein 2014 for? Most of these prices were Gold prices by the way, paying that 60/year which gives me online play actually saves me hundreds of dollars per year.

And I haven't even mentioned physical trade ins, which are perfect for annualized games like sports games. You buy a Madden on PC, you can never do anything with it, never get any part of your investment back. I can use last year's game towards the new game.

Its really not.

I might have spent 700 total on my I7 and I5 rigs. The I7 is a workhorse and the I5 is a gaming rig.

If you feel the XB1X is expensive then it's not for you. MS has the XB1S for gamers on a budget. $500 is not expensive for the Technology the console is packing. People spend $800 on cell phones these days and trade those in every 2 - 3 years. At $500 MS is selling you the HW at cost without any substantial profit. I personally will buy it to take advantage of our 4K HDR TV.
