I am sorry this is the wrong spot to post this, but this seemed like the best place to ask. Is the Xbox video section in Windows 8 basically the new Windows Media Player? I am trying to redeem a code for a Windows Media Player version of a movie and I don't see Windows Media Player on my computer and I don't see any place for a code in the Xbox video section.

Unless you have a Windows 8 N version, Windows Media Player comes with the OS but you need to execute it first as it comes "uninstalled".

So the answer is yes and no, Xbox video is the new WMP, but WMP is still there, on the classic desktop mode.
