I just got a Dynex 26''720p LCDHDTV and when I play my 360 on it the graphics look like crap. The edges of objects are jagged and the graphics look blurry and undefined. Everything is connected properly, the display setting is set to 720p, andI am using component cables. Would the graphics enhance if I used an HDMI cable instead of component cables? Is this TV not suited for playing games?

It depends on the game.. some games look like a jagged mess on any tv and your tv isn't exactly top of the line.

I already said the settings are correct. Regardless if it is top of the line or not it shouldn't look the way it does. Is that just how games look in 720p?

720p is the native resolution for most xbox 360 and ps3 games. Your settings must not be right.

If the settings were incorrect then the system would not turn on right. I've played my 360 in my living room on a 1080p TV and on a 720p TV at my friend's house and the graphics look way more defined and sharp.

No, MW2 is not as bad and is 600p. Halo 3 is just ugly.

I just got a Sanyo '26 720p on black friday.... I haven't had any issues other than the blackness/darkness. I try to adjust the contrast but it doesn't help. When I'm watching regular television on it, the scenes at night in certain movies look bad(too dark).

Ex. When Luke fights Vader in Return of the Jedi(I was watching it on Spike tV the other night) I noticed I couldn't see much of Vader's suit other than the parts exposed in light. But when I watching other channels it's bright and looks great.

The difference between a 1080p tv and 720p tv while playing a 720p native game would be minimal unless one tv had a better contrast ratio.

So are there TVs that are suited for gaming and some that are not?

Sorry dude but that's BS if I've ever heard it. The only difference between a TV suited for gaming and one not suited for gaming is input lag. That's it. His games should look fine on his TV. Either he didn't properly hook everything up, didn't set the 360 to use 720p, or perhaps is just playing an ugly game. Hell, you could just be sitting too close to the TV.

I said above there was little difference. Some tvs do have better motion enhanced technology and contrast ratios but the basic gaming ability is no different.

A. Dynex is garbage as far as HDTV's go. Even if you have a 720p LCD Dynex. It may only be 60 Hz and have a crap Contrast Ratio like 4000:1 with a 8 ms refresh rate

B. You may not have everything hooked up properly

C. Plasmas are must better suited for having uber visuals for games, movies and sports. I just bought a Panasonic Viera 42" Plasma and it DESTROYS my 2 year old LCD.

D. You could be sitting too close. I have a 37" Magnavox LCD and if I am looking at it from like 2 feet away, the games look absolutely crap tastic. But if I back off about 4 or 5 feet, they look much better.
