frustration or immaturity mostly. they think its cool.no racial slurs though. thats just bigotry.im guilty of it too sometimes. is it necessary? no, but does it help? sometimes yes.

Which "gamer zone" are you in? I don't meter my language when I play games, in the same way that I don't meter my language when I go out to bars or parties...This is recreation, not work or religion. I think it is MUCH more irritating when people make excessive noise, scream, or just say pointless things over their mics vs. hearing someone swear.

With that being said, I do not in any way condone racist remarks, and think that is absolutely grounds for a negative player review or even bans. Swearing is one thing, it is usually not targeted at a blanket group of people, and while it definitely can be hurtful, usually will not alienate an entire race or nationality. Racism, on the other hand, is completely idiotic and totally hurtful. That I can do without...

If you ask yourself that then you should also ask yourself why people curse in general.

most people do it cuz there are no immediate reprecussions behind it... think about it, if they talked like that in front of someone's face 9 times outta 10 they'll probably get their teeth kicked in. On the internet you can do and say as you please and only have to worry about getting reported. Whch would you rather have if you were a coward... 'getting reported' or 'teeth kicked in'?

I swear because its the way I calm myself.

I used to hit stuff but after several wholes in the wall and a swollen wrist, I just curse now.

Some people swear to feel masculine and in fact you may hear someone you're online with swearing and you may think, wow hes tough, but he may be this little skinny nerd.

It annoys me too. I don't mind the occasional swear word from somebody but when they constantly use it in every sentence they speak - that's why it really becomes disruptive for me. Joy for the mute feature! :D

it shouldnt bother you because everyone curses. but its probably because they are pissed off or because they just want to act cool.

Those people you described are what we call morons. However, a slip of the tongue when you're really into the game is fine in my eyes (like dying and saying something). ;)

People swear because adults are entitled to use adult language. When playing games with other people who have the balls to put a headset on without having any idea who they're talking to, everyone should expect and accept the usage of profanity. It's a part of life, and a part of competition. Any sport you play (basketball, football, baseball, whatever), competitors use swear words as expression. It's just a part of it. XBOX live is no different. It's competition, and people express themselves with curse words.

Yes, some people go overboard. A LOT haha, but for the most part, people just swear with some sort of control. I understand that you don't like swearing, but you can't stop it, so just mute people if they do it too much. Cheers

I dont what it is, I never swear but when I start playing video games it just comes out. I hate it so much and I dont know why it happens, but I never say it over live. Its always to myself.
