Just read the reviews and you'll see the general consensus on the two games. In short, Mass Effect 2 is an amazing game.

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite but I love rpgs so it's not really a contest.

Well, that's his opinion. But if just about everyone is saying that it is such an amazing achievement, it's hard to ignore that.

I personally feel that Mass effect 2 is is extremely better than Bioshock 2. I just had a really good time with it, Bioshock 2 was a good game but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first game.

Haven't played either, but I'm definitely gonna be getting ME2 before I ever try out Bioshock 2. From everything I've heard, its a more 'epic' experience, and thats what I'm all about right now.

Mass effect 2 is far ahead IMO. The game is just too good. No game fanboy here, i didn't really enjoyed the first.

I haven't played Bioshock 2 yet, but from the looks of it, It looks great. I do have Mass Effect 2, and I have to say, It's one of the best games I ever played in a long time. Definitely go get this game TC, and yes, this is better then Mass Effect 1, even though that game is awesome and definitely worth the purchase to.

Obviously, it's all a matter of taste.

If you lean towards shooters then I would go with Bioshock. (Shooting mechanics in Mass Effect are pretty well done however)

If you're more of an RPG guy then go with Mass Effect.

If you still can't decide and you need a tie breaker, I'd say go with Mass Effect 2 for the better story. I haven't beat Bioshock 2 yet, but I'm guessing I'm about 80% of the way through andthe storyreally isn't anything to write home about...yet.

Underwater or outer space ^^ My copy of Bioshock 2 is on the way but I already beat Mass Effect 2. I'm pretty sure ME2 is better. I liked the first Mass Effect more than the 1st Bioshock and from what I see in the reviews that isn't gonna change for the 2nd time around. I'd say its definitely a question of taste.

I own both but I've only completed Mass Effect 2. That being said, from what I've played, Mass Effect 2 is better than Bioshock 2 by a long shot, especially if you enjoyed Mass Effect 1. It's also a far, far better game than Mass Effect 1. The characters are better, the combat is better, the cover system is better, the squad control/AI is better, the graphics are better, the sidequests are way better, the upgrade system is better, and there's no Mako. It's only February, and I'm pretty damned sure that Mass Effect 2 will remain my game of the year. It's already better than anything that came out in 2009.

Two completely different games, not even in the same ballpark. They are in no way comparable. You can compare ME1 to ME2 because obviously being from the same series they can be compared.

I really recommend you give ME2 a chance. Pretty much everything you likely didn't like about ME1 has been fixed in ME2. It's almost as big an improvement as Assassin's Creed 1 vs Assassin's Creed 2, or Resistance 1 vs Resistance 2.

bioshock 2 is better, mass effect 2 robbed the cover system from gears and incinerate and cryo blast from bioshock.

Like the messages above, it's all about opinion. Bioshock is action driven with constant streams of creepy goodness just rushing through your TV with an above average storyline. The game does feel like it ends earlier than it should and it is hyped up to be longer than it actually is. I personally spent roughly 8 hours beating bioshock on Normal, saving every sister, finding every power to the people stations and researching every enemy. It was fairly short. Mass effect on the other hand has an excellent story, it does feel like a book, which could be a bad thing in some cases. You'll be finding yourself intrigued trying to gain the loyalty of your team and spend roughly 26 hours or so doing nearly every subplot and mainplot in the game (excluding planet scanning, that's just tedious and boring). In the end, it's all about preference. The plot twists are much better in bioshock however.
