What is happening to gamespot???

I see that gamespot just gave MGS4 a 10/10. that's 2 10's this year. I don't know about other people but I know on of the things I liked about gamespot was that if they gave a game a 10 they really meant it was perfect and seeing a game with a 10 on gamespot really meant it was elite. Its not like that anymore. GTAIV was definatly not like that and although it was a great game it wasn't worth the 10. I haven't gotten deep into MGS4 yet but, I certainly don't expect it to be a 10 from what I have been through. I think gamespot is just giving into hype this year or just trying to be like other game magazines and sites and give and "great" game a flawless ranking. Everyone has different opinions but, I think gamespot is giving into hype.

Sadly, I agree. While I think GTA IV is a great game, there's no way that it deserves a 10.

Sure, during the first few minutes that you play GTA IV, you feel like it's a 10, since everything is still new to you.

Eventually though, around 1/4th into the story, you begin to wonder where all that fun went.

Same. This site used to be amazing, everything from the reviews to the podcast and live shows.

Now forget about it, everyone good left; I'll go to IGN or GB to read reviews.

I agree GTA4 is not a 10, maybe if they make some great DLC to make up for what was left out it might be a 10.

MGS4 is a 10 though, it is by far the best gaming experience I have ever had, it's a masterpiece.

I personally think no game should ever get a 10 because no matter how good games get in the future of stealth/action games they can never be BETTER than MGS4. They can be as good, but not better which is not true. If they re-released MGS4 with one new feature it would be better, but it can't be because they gave it a 10.

I'm not saying they shouldn't give 10s because games can't be perfect (which i think they can't, but it is up to people own opinion on whether or not games are perfect), but i think it is stupid because now no game, no matter how good can surpass it.

I think that a 10 should be left for that one game that could possibly end video games because it is so good that all the other games are crap in comparison which leads to less sales and the eventual death of the video game market. Now this probably will never happen which is why i think no game deserves a 10 (no matter how good). A 9.8 is the right score to me because.. well it can always be beaten by a 9.9, but 9.9 is still passable by a 10.

All i am saying is i hate 10 out of 10s.
