I cant decide whether to buy a VGA cable or upgrade my component cable to the more expensive on. Right now I have to component cable that came with the system. Ive heard different facts on which one is better but my problem is. If the VGA one is better is there a splitter or a way to hook up two VGA cords at the same time because i have my computer connected to my TV via VGA?

Wait, what does HDMI have to do with anything.. The 360 is either component or VGA, right??

Remember you said you were trying to connect BOTH Xbox 360 and the computer on the same monitor? I basically use a HDMI to DVI cord for the computer which frees the VGA port, which I can use for the 360. http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=2816&sku=40286 this is similar to what I'm using. It saves me the trouble from having to constantly have to swap 360 cord and PC since theres only one VGA slot. In fact if you use the PC's DVI port instead of VGA you'll get digital all the way without the conversions that go on with using VGA for the PC. Also, I've heard the VGA port is better to use for the 360.

from what i read, i think the vga is better if used with a computer monitor. on the other hand, component is better if you are using a tv.

No you got it backwards... DVI is better than VGA because when your using VGA the signal gets converted from digital to analog then back to digital which degrades the quality. So DVI is better than VGA which is why most graphic cards today have the DVI port. Notice if you look at really old graphics cards they only have a VGA connection and no DVI, that's because more people are using DVI rather than VGA.

Heres a article to prove my statment:   http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_11_4/feature-dvi-hdmi-hdcp-connections-11-2004.html

Man VGA is better, I think you should use the Xbox 360 VGA cable sold by Microsoft.
