I use a butter knife to open my dvd drive and it works like a charm. Is that bad for the dvd drive?

This guy does the same method I use except I have the face flate on and everything. Its a little harder with the face plate on though.

Perhaps but honestly, at this point, what are your options? My 360 is the same way...I always have to leave a disc in the drive or it gets stuck.

It sucks how the drive always ends up not opening when a disc isnt in there. I just fingered my dvd drive and for right now it ejects without a disc in there. Nice to know I can always use a butter knife if it doesnt open again.

nearly every dvd drive has a hole for a paper clip size. pushing something in that hole will ALWAYS open.

My way is faster though. No need to take off face plate.

What I did was punch the DVD drive with my middle knuckle and it opens up. Just a light tap near the eject button usually does the trick with anything on my old 360,

I did some more experimenting and the best way now is to put a little pressure on the top of the Xbox when it is standing up. Push some on the top then you push the eject button and let go. I wonder why I never thought of that ages ago.

Has that helped any of you?

a tap on the top shall also work not to hard though just tap it ,    and only tap it when there is no game spinning inside , other ways is like people said get a paper clip  and what not , i actually noticed something about the slim model though i had to yank my dvd drive i found out i t wasnt using rubber bands ,

mine came all the way out   , ,  and i put it back on the track and it worked ever since

If it doesn't open. strip the console down until it consists of over 100 individual pieces.. post each piece to a stranger.. poke ya neighbours cat in the eye, then ring the police informing em that your console has been stolen.. Give the police all 100 addresses where you suspect the missing console parts to be, after the police totally screw up the investigation, expect 100 new consoles in the post! Strip down each new consoles until they eack consists of 100 individual pieces, then repeat process!

Keep repeating process until ya don't give a damn about DVD tray!

Next lesson.. How to repair ya Moms/Mums vacuum cleaner.. Strip vacuum cleaner down until... ;)
