basically me and my roommate each have a 360. we are connecting with one wireless and one wired. whenever one of us signs on when the other is on, we get booted off. is there a way to have 2 xbox's on one router on xbl at the same time?

Yeah i actually just did it this past weekend with a couple of buddies. As long as you both have gamertags that can get on live then you'll be fine.

Make sure DHCP is turned on in your router config.

I would try to use a wired connection on both. What Internet service do you une? I'm asking because I brought my X-box to my frineds house and I used his router with my ehternet cable and we was both was playing gears of war. another time He was palying gears while I was playing rainbow. It's possible but I would use wired connection on both X-boxes there's routers that has more than one port.

Make sure your router is Xbox Live Compatible (you can tell if it's certified by going to the Xbox website), make sure DHCP is turned on in your router and all your settings are configured to "automatic" in the Xbox's network settings, and make damn sure UpNp is turned on in your router.

doesnt have to be "certified" thats rubbish. Mine isnt, mines wired, the other is wireless and we can both play on live at the same time with no probs. Hell I can be hosting a game and someone else can be just playing on live in the other with no problems.

TC maybe your net isnt quick enough so one gets the boot to free up bandwidth. it could also be port conflicts, so definately make sure upnp is turned on as other posters have mentioned.

While he doesn't provide a lot of details Creeping_Wolf's post could be the only correct on I've seen posted! The problem comes from the fact that there are some many ways that work with "one" xbox that "seem" like they would work with two xbox's but don't. Below is a copy of something that I posted somewhere else that I thought I would share here. After having failed to get the wrt320G to work I hooked up my old wrt54g with DD-WRT v24 (05/20/08) std on it just to give it another try. I turned off the firewall (Filter Anonymous Internet Requests), turned off DMZ, made sure the Port Forwarding (single, range and triggered) were turn off and turned on UPnP. When it didn't work with static addresses on the xbox's I set them back to automatic and it started working. My thinking is that if you use static IP's on the Xbox'x Microsoft either doesn't touch it or can't because it needs to play with the IP's to work. If you look at what UPnP does, it takes the automatic assigned IP addresses on the xbox of .101 and .102 and turns them in to multiple IP's and reassigned ports as well. (122 and 123 added by UPnP) Description Enabled From (WAN) To (LAN)IP Address Protocol Xbox (192.168.1.103:3074) 3074 UDP Yes 3074 3074 192.168.1.103 UDP Xbox (192.168.1.123:9978) 9978 UDP Yes 9978 9978 192.168.1.123 UDP Xbox (192.168.1.102:20874) 20874 UDP Yes 20874 20874 192.168.1.102 UDP Xbox (192.168.1.122:11882) 11882 UDP Yes 11882 11882 192.168.1.122 UDP Went back to Xbox and Manual set the IP to the Automatic one .100 and .102 and it didn't work. Only works in automatic mode. Try the same stuff with the WRT320G and it didn't work. Linksys support never suggested working with the UpnP so I must conclude this a known bug with the WRT320G.

My newest roommate and I already do that. On a similar note, back with the PS2 and Need for speed underground (original), we were able to actually play each other. Friend came over with the PS2 copy, while I had it on my PC at the time (now wishing I still had that disc :( ). Good times, and making me wish you could do stuff like that again.

I've had four on one router with zero lag and I've had a dozen with a 24port switch and one router, no lag. And my line is just a basic 10mbit/1mbit.
