First, thanks for stopping in. I need a good jrpg and have always been a fan of the genre. I'm looking to pick up either Tales of Vesperia or Eternal Sonata today. I think they both look awesome. Ive researched them both and really just cannot decide. Plus they are both super cheap so cost is not a factor. If any of you have played either or both I could really use your opinions on these games. Thanks again!

Tales is a lot longer. I liked its story more too but Eternal Sonota was also good.

Tales of Vesperia is the clear choice imo. I thought the story was much better and the game is longer. You can always pick up Eternal Sonata afterwards anyway.

Tales of Vesperia hands down lol. sonata is a good JRPG but Tales is just better on so many levels, longer, more engaging story, better characters, better character development and a more intense battle system. but i would still recomend picking up sonata after finishing Tales of Vesperia ^_^

Thanks guys. I know ill eventually end up playing both. But I'm in the mood for something long and rewarding so it looks like I'm going with Tales first.

Lost Odyssey, oh wait... :)

I played the demo of Tales of Vesperia and I wasn't impressed but a lot of people say it is a great game and not to go by the demo.

The demo was horrible it didn't do the game any justice.

Tales of Vesperia by a long shot. Unless you like your jrpg's like a rail shooter with no exploration go with ES. ToV is massive and has an overworld map as well as a ship and a flying dragon you can control on the map. It's epic. Very dark too.

I prefered Eternal Sonata personally. Tales is still good, but the game just drags on forever without making much story progress and I'm not a big fan of most of the cast (Yuri is an obvious exception).

i need to ask you are you a musician of any kind(guitar drams flute:anything really) if so you Will love eternal sonata more that other people have

my opinion is that eternal had a very very very DEEP story(talks about life after death reality, and such, but with a musical spin off) and with amazing gameplay makes this game irreplaceable

tov on the other hand has a great story as well and is longer than eternal sonata id say think of eternal sonata in every aspect and subtract 2 and you get tov

vut keep in mind that it is a good set of hours longer and still very fun to play.

if i had to suggest one and only one it would have to be eternal sonata so its som much more deeper and and when your done with it, it will keep you up at night just thinking about it.

but if you can get both these are games that cant be passed up if you are a jrpg fan

have both but only played and finished eternal sonata, i found it to be a great rpg the only downside was it was pretty short for an rpg. I think i beat it under 20 hours.

Both are good games, but Tales of Vesperia is just more awesome. It's my favorite for the 360. Since both are so cheap now, you might as well get both. I'd play Eternal Sonata first though since it's a quicker adventure and while still good, it probably will be seen as a let down if you play it after Tales.
