Street Fighter IV--avoiding Seth's ultra move

Just a gameplay question for fighting against Seth--is there a way to avoid his ultra-suck cheap move? Seems like he likes to digest his fighters no matter where you are on the screen.

You can block it. But the timing is weird. I've managed to do it a few times...

The only way I have found so far is to block. All of the attacks I tried to use were ineffective.
