And still not RROD. So i decided not to keep risking it and get a fan. I have a few questions about it tho...

1: How much does a fan reduce your chances of getting the RROD?

2: What is a good fan (ie, brand name, type) to get on ebay?

3: Do they work at all?

RROD is completely random and has nothing to do with overheating , its more complicated thn that

so i dont recommend it at all

plus why to worry u have 3 yrs warrenty from MS , and thats if yrs RROD'd , ull get it fixed in two weeks , not bad rly.

Dont waste yr money dude

okay.... everyone that claims to have overheating issues blames it on the power supply... which is on the cord... therefore the fan on the console doesn nothing but use more power and cause the poswer supply to be hotter than without the fan... they do nothing... and like the guy above me said... if you arent having a problem why use a fan

Stay away from the fan add-on! It will do more damage than good.

I wouldn't waste your money on a fan if you're not having any problems, just keep doing whatever it is you're doing. But, if you insist on getting one, don't buy any add-on fan, your best bet fan wise is to get a laptop cooler fan and set your 360 on that, this won't be pulling power from your 360 and they work pretty well.

Don't use the fan! If you do get an RROD, send it in to MS, it's possible they can tell if you used a fan, and your warranty is void. The fan actually overheats the 360.

Of course this thread is filled with rumors about the fans. Well let me tell you, I have used one since December, and it has given me absolutely no problems. Its a little louder, but it keeps the 360 cool.

I think people talk about the fans when all they've heard is stuff online.

To be honest, the fan hasn't given me any problems. I plan to take it off soon to see if it has caused any scorching or damage to my console, but I would guess not. My best advice for you is to trust the online reviews for the fans, and make your decision based off of facts and not just opinions of what someone heard or read over the internet.

Yeah, that sounds like the most likley thing I will do.

What kind of fan do you use? I have been looking on some things on Amazon, and the BLACK Nyko Intercooler seems to be the most likely solution. But I haven't heard anything about laptop coolers, if they work just as good, or if they work at all. I know that there is no chance that they could ever damage my 360, but because it is on the bottom I dont know if it will work as well.

I use the Nyko White Intercooler. It makes the console a little louder, but I've also noticed that it is alot cooler to the touch, and when I feel the air coming out of the console with the fan it is usually pretty hot. My 360 was purchased in December 2006 and doesn't have the new chipset/heat sink, and its a Premium model.

No, people have been telling me not to get the attachment cooler. There are attachment fans, and then there are laptop fans, they are different things.
