Im just wondering if they, lets say if they make a dedicated server for mv2 then after blkops comes out, can they reuse the server?

I dont expect most of you know the answer but some of you just might.

So if yes, why the hell are they not putting a dedicated server on the game?

CoD titles do not have dedicated servers, on consoles at least.

CoD is p2p, it doesn't use servers other than to store rank information and theatre mode data etc.

If the dedicated server goes down, then no one gets to play. That's why p2p is much better server choice for console gaming.

Activision/IW/Treyarch have actually wanted to invest in dedicated servers for a while, but they have basically said that the amount it would cost for servers that would support CoD's massive community would be far too large. There are over a million people playing Black Ops at times, which means a lot of server stress and a lot of server space needed. The number of people playing at once will only increase with MW3, so dedicated servers will pretty much never happen.

Dedicated servers only really go down within the first few weeks of a game's release, and are pretty much spotless from there on out. Good example:BC2, troubles at launch, but the servers didn't have any issues for the vast majority of its life cycle, and the hit detection was great in that game and there was minimal lag if any at all. Look at Black Ops, sure the servers have never gone down, because it doesn't have dedicated servers, but the hit detection is awful and the lag can be unbearable at times. Dedicated servers are far better if they are implemented well.

That'a because PC players won't tolerate P2P servers. They know better. They just simply wouldn't buy it.

Correct.

lol p2p will never be better for gaming in any way until Internet speeds get much much faster which im guessing wiont be anytime. The only reason they use p2p is to save money and nothing else.
