Try turning on the Xbox by pushing the button on the console instead of the controller.

If it was advertised as "brend" new, then I'd say it's probably broken...

Sometimes the controllers do the stuff you described, I've got a wired controller that just circles and doesn't work on the 360. I had mine for a month or two so I dont know about new ones though.

You should've bought an official MS controller.

They aren't good. Their decent and i've heard many people say they break easily. I'd return that one and buy an official.

Not sure what the return policies are at the store so just call and tell them what happened. See if you can get store credit and just put up more money for an official controller.

As long as you have only had it for a short time they will return it. Madcatz is not a good company in any way. I used to use there memory cards on the PS2 and they got formated several times or would have corrupted files on them for no reason. There controllers I got for the Gamecube broke in just a couple weeks in one way or another.

Never buy madcatz products.

yeah sorry man but MadCatz controllers are terrible, as said before just got an Official one. and why do you want a wired one so bad, anyway? Personally I think the wireless are a lot easier and comfortable to use, but maybe that's just me..

I wouldn't be too sure about that for everyone... :?

Keeping on topic, I tend to agree with what people say - as far as third party peripherals go for game consoles, avoid them like the plague unless you've read nothing but good reviews on them. They typically aren't well supported and/or can void your game console's warranty if used in conjunction with them.

As for the Gamestop wired controller, I actually read a review on their very own website (In fact it seemed the only one there.) that it has the same problem you described - the controller just wouldn't sync with the Xbox.

You might be interested to know that they DO sell the wired version, however it only comes in white. (The Gamestop one I think comes in either black or white, but what's the point in color choice if the darned thing won't work?) You can buy it online, but you might be hard pressed to find it for in-store pickup. I'm not entirely sure why nobody carries the official wired one anymore, but if you still want to give it a shot, good luck.

no no no, you probably have to sync it with the 360's connection channel. You've been using another controller, so just plug the new one in, and press the little white circle on the front of the 360. I know I'm not explaining it very well, but eh..that's what you do.

He said it's wired. Take it back dude, and you should always try to buy the official equipment if you can it's so much better.
