No it voids warranty.
just keep your 360 in a ventalated area. Make sure the back of the 360 (where most heat is generated) has open space to breath.
I don't think it makes a huge difference, I've heard stories where it helped and hurt people. I wouldn't bother, maybe if they made an official XBox one, and come to think of it, If it helped that much, wouldn't XBox have come up with one of their own? I think you're best bet is just to keep it in a ventilated area.FrostyGophermicrosoft would not ever make there own, it would be like admitting there system will overheat.
Facts;
The Nyko cooling fan that attaches to the back of the console and runs off of the console's A/C power input has been known to CAUSE overheating, as it generates even more heat from the power supply itself.
The Intec cooling stand (the one with green lights that you place the console in vertically) has it's own SEPARATE A/C adapter, and will not cause any more heat to be generated.
A lot of people on these boards will automatically say "NO OMGZORZ TEH COOLING FAN BRAKES TEH CONOLZ!!", which is not 100% true... only the one that runs off of the 360's power has been known to do that.
Now, I have the fan stand that I was referring to, and I can't say if it actually makes the console cooler because I have no way to prove what the temp is with and without it.... but I can say I can tell a definite difference in airflow with it. There is, without a doubt, more air being pushed out through the back of the console when using it. As far as voiding the warranty? I HIGHLY doubt this one would. I can see how one that runs off of the 360's A/C power (or one what runs off of the USB even) would void it, but the console just rests on the stand... it's not "attached" to it, and doesn't plug into it at all.
At $20 I figure it couldn't hurt... if nothing else it looks nice. I wouldn't risk any of the other ones, but if you're going to get one I definitely recommend the stand.
I don't see how using a cooling device would void onces warrenty. And it get's it power thru the AC adapter, not from the 360, though it wouldn't make any difference since the power supply is external. And it delivers power to the USB ports, and the ESATA port. So it's not going to burn out.
But it won't protect against the RROD because it's due to a manufacturing defect. They have been using a cheaper soder to hold down the heatsync that cracks after a a period of use. Once cracked the heatsync basically no longer can draw the hear away from the RAM and eventually it causes a hardware failure. If you get one that was put together w/ the correct sodor it has a far far less likely chance of experiancing this same failure.
The intercooler draws power that the 360 needs to function properly. You could damage your system and void your warranty.bdhoff
Get your facts right before you blast .... like that of, the 360 has enough power to supply the intercooler (It has to deal with other third party software (I-pods, Wired controllers.. ect)
If you want a cooler get the intec glow stand, thats the best one on the market.shadow8585
puttingh your xbox 360 verticle is one of the worst things you can do!!!
