He will be 16 in feb and his Christmas list has quite a few 'M' rated games. My brother (his dad isn't handy with comps so I came on here and decided to ask the community your consensus.

Assassin's Creed

Mass Effect

Halo 3

Bioshock

Crysis (for PC I know but the other 3 are 360s and it's the same company).

Which games are ok. He seems mature and isn't psychopathic. I think he can take it but how bad are these games?

They're not that bad.

AC just has some violent finishing kills.
Mass Effect isn't that bad from what I've heard.
Halo 3 has two seconds of blood.
Bioshock just has a twisted story.

I havent palyed mass effect or Assassin's Creed yet but ive played the rest and there not that bad. expically when you compare em to most of the voilent games out there. If your nephew is 16 and fairly mature he should be able to handle most games out on the market im currently 18 and was playing gta at 14 and im not out of my mind. I have a job and a gf so people can obviously stand to be around me haha. Thats just my 2 cents.

All games are good. Assassin's Creed is probably the craziest and it's really no big deal. Nothing you don't see in movies.

Another thing to be 16 and not being able to play a game you want is just insane man. They don't go over the top like most people say and If he had to wait a year to play it, just not fair dude.

those i wouldn't have any problem with. The only game to stay away from is Manhunt 2. I wouldn't recommend Crysis either, probably a great game, but he would need a very high end pc to enjoy it. The others aren't sadistic, mass effect anmd halo 3 deal with killing aliens, bioshock you kill other non-humans. Assassin's Creed is the only one that involves killing people.

The worst of all of them (Violence and such wise) is Bioshock. Its a fantastic game, but with the psycho splicers and freaky little girls lol, its strange.

All of them are fine but I dont know about Crysis, simply because I havent played it yet.

Hell, I think the M rating shouldnt mean 17 and older, it should be 13 and older or something close to that. Having it 1 year younger than the adult rating is just stupid.

Assassin's Creed and Bioshock are very gory, Mass Effect has optional mild sex scenes, and Halo 3 has zombies. there you go. I don't know about Crysis but he should be able to handle them all. Keep in mind that you need a very, very, very good computer to play Crysis.

his parents hear the horror stories on the news and get scared, and nervous, they've never played the games so they don't know what to make of it. I figured he should get the green light.

btw the nephew is me and these are my parents I'm just trying to make a point them that they're overreacting.thanks alot. I played god of War and I stomached it and I play Halo 2 at my friends' houses all the time and I always wonder how it got rated M. Maybe it's like the movies where they need an R rating for it to do well at the box office.

If he's 16 whatever, a one year difference between the suggested date isn't going to make a difference.

Those games are fine. I have every one except Mass Effect and Crysis but those two games don't look that bad in the videos that I have watched. But the others are just fine.

Crysis isn't really violent at all, just a bit of blood, but there are is a fair amount of F bombs both in game(if you don't play on highest difficulty setting) and in cut scenes. Not that I think that is neccasarily a terribly evil thing, but just if you want to know. Other people answered for the rest.
