2 weeks after I had mine, I got 1 red light error, turned it off then on again and it worked fine. I called MS they said it can glitch with giving a warning sometimes, if it happens more call them. It worked fine for another 1.5 weeks. Then got the same error again, turned it off, turned it on and it worked fine. Works fine currently. <knock on wood>
If you continue gettign red lights time and time again I'd send it in regardless if it fixes itself or not. Why would you own something that isn't exactly what you want? Especially something so expensive. I got a refund on my first one because of the red lights and now I have my second. It's frozen a couple times so far but that's not to worry. If the red lights start again I'm going to send it in for a replacement and I'll keep doing that until there are no red lights.
Consoles have a time before they are perfected by the manufacturer.
I would rather get a red light once a month or even 2 weeks, and just turn it off + on again; than ship it in the mail across many states to have some dude tinker with it. (replacement only if not repaired, and even then the replacement might be 'refurbished' not new). But I don't think I would say this if I did not have the 2 year service plan, otherwise I would be worried that it would break down completely eventually and I'd be screwed.
my friend gets red lights 9 times in a row... then it always powers up. and also after a sucessful power up it will power up again on one try for 20 minutes.... weird isnt it?
