mpeg movies

I just got my 360 and am making it as my room media console but without xbox live. I'm a ameture guiar player and have sownloaded a bunch of other ametur guitarist song cover. I tried playing the vids on a burned disc in my xbox360 but an error message saying I need to updat the mediaplayer by going to the site left me hanging. The burnt vids on my disc are all mpeg\mpg files. I've got a few .wmv files and it worked fine. Is there a way for me to update the mediaplayer without goin through xboxlive? pls help

You can burn the Fall update to a disc, or throw it on a flash drive and update that way.
